After the settlement signed in June between BALO and Express-Interfarcht, subsidiary of Rail Cargo Austria Group (RCA), there had a meeting in Izmir head office. The parties expressed their mutual satisfaction and the predetermined agenda was discussed.
The preparations for starting intermodal transportations, investments on containers and wagons, studies for logistics infrastructure with support of Ministry of Transportation and BALO's 93 shareholders were subject to the meeting.
The other agenda items were structuring of BALO in Anatolia and storage areas, internal and foreign marketing activities, transit times and alternative routes, and electronic data interchanging.
Mr Erik Regter as the Chairman of RCA expressed his feelings that he is excited for such project concerning the improvement of railway transportation in Turkey with a great and meaningful view. He also desired it to be stable. BALO's General Manager Mr Isteermis also gave warm wishes and stated the goal for increasing the frequency of services aimed at beginning.
At the end of the meeting Mr Isteermis presented to Drs. Erik Regter a plaque composed of a travers and rail section which were taken from the rail line between Izmir-Aydin in the year 1856.

BALO has decided to supply the containers from the Dutch Company, UNIT45, in order to use for the intermodal operations which will start on 8th of September.
The Managers of BALO has participated in the training which is organized in Istanbul, on 7th-8th of September in order to describe the “Draft Law on the Liberalisation of rail transport in Turkey”.
