Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Lithuanian Railways and BALO in the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey

The Deputy General Manager of Lithuanian Railways Mr Saulius Stasiūnas, Head of Freight Department Mr Andrejus Ponomariovas, Head of International Relations Department Mr Gintaras Sinkevicius, and Head of Stations Technology Department Mr Vaidutis Vielys attended to the meeting in TOBB The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey on 11 September 2013. While Director General Mr Huseyin Isteermis and Ms Selda Yilmazoglu as Responsible for Business Development of BALO participated in the meeting, TOBB was represented by Mr Sancar Sefer Suer as Head of TIR and ATA Carnets Division and Ms Oznur Cetintas and Cihan Korucu as Assistant Experts.

The Viking Project, as one of the best samples for combined transportation, is a joint action of both Lithuanian, Belarus, Ukraine and Bulgarian railways and after Turkey involved to the Project, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed with TCDD Turkish State Railways. With the involvement of TCCD to Project, all discussions about BALO to be the sole responsible for marketing, distributing and operational activities in Viking Project were subject to that meeting. And MoU was signed by Mr Stasys Dailydka Director General of Lithuanian Railways and Mr Huseyin Isteermis as General Manager of BALO.

Export products in Turkey will be loaded in Derince and Bandirma ports to be sent to Odessa port in Ukraine and then they will be transported to Baltic countries and Moscow by passing Lithuania, Belarus and Ukraine corridors with Viking train.

The shipments coming back from the same route will be distributed in Anatolia and they will also be sent to Middle East and Central Asia in transit. 

With a new developed Viking Train corridor, the freights will be sent out in Baltic countries and inner Europe via Lithuania-Belarus-Ukraine-Romania-Bulgaria-Turkey corridor.

In addition, on behalf of BALO General Manager Mr Huseyin Isteermis attended to signature ceremony for MoU between TCDD and Lithuanian Railways on 12 September 2013.
