BALO Batı Anadolu Logistics Organizations Inc.; which will begin to railway transportation between the countries Turkey and Central and West Europe by 45’HC containers in the beginning of 2013, signed the Memorandum of Agreement with Viking Train Project that has operated combined transportation through the countries Lithuania, Belarus and Ukraine since 2003 in order to export the Turkish shipments through this line.
BALO, established on December with the goal of increasing Turkey’s share in terms of international railway transport and developing environment friendly and economic transport modes, has partners from TOBB-the highest representative of Turkish private sector-, 92 chambers, commodity exchanges, and organized industry zones and Association of International Forwarding and Logistics Service Providers(UTIKAD).
Viking Train, connecting seaports of Black Sea and Baltic sea by rail, is a joint project of Lithuania, Belarus and Ukraine Railways, and ports of Klaipeda, Illichivsk, and Odessa.
The route of this train is Ukraine, Belarus, and Lithuania. It provides the connection between Baltic region’s container sea network and the transport systems of Black Sea, Mediterranean Sea and Caspian Sea.
The memorandum of understanding was signed between Mr Stasys DAILYDKA, Director General of Lithuanian Railways and Mr Huseyin ISTEERMIS, Deputy General Manager of BALO Bati Anadolu Logistic Organizations Inc. on 10 May 2012 in the capital city Vilnius. In addition, Vytautas Nauduzas,as Ambassador , Reneta JASILIONYTE as the President of Strategic Sectors Policies of Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the authorities from Lithuanian Railways participated to the meeting, too.
The object of the Viking Train cooperation is to transport export shipments to Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, and Poland via ports of Samsun and Derince by railway with lower cost and in a short time.
With the vision for leading the sector, BALO has taken the responsibility to give acceleration to the Turkish trade and industry that will provide huge economic contribution.
